Bio-regeneration with platelet-rich plasma
What is involved
The treatment consists of intradermal micro-injections containing platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Platelets have elements that naturally activate tissues' regenerative capacities. Plasma is obtained from a small sample of the patient's own blood. The quantity taken is similar to a normal blood test. This treatment is often combined with others to enhance the effects.
How does it work
It has a number of effects, although the response varies from person to person:
- It rejuvenates the skin in the area around the vagina.
- It facilitates vaginal opening.
- It reduces pain in women who experience painful coitus.
- It increases natural lubrication.
- It improves the scarring of wounds that don't heal easily.

- In peri- and postmenopausal women with vaginal dryness and who want to improve the appearance of the skin in their genital region.
- In case of scarring, ageing or any process requiring tissue regeneration, to improve or accelerate scar formation.
- In treatment for aesthetic purposes, such as labioplasty, labia majora augmentation or genital bleaching.
Results
The results are fast for some women, although sometimes it takes several weeks to achieve the desired effects, as the response depends on the capacity for absorption and reaction, which varies from person to person. Because of this, it is not possible to know how many sessions will be needed in advance. A gap of at least one month must be left between each session, and no more than three sessions can be performed in a single year.
After the treatment, you can go about your life as normal, although depending on the case, the specialist may indicate some situations where you should take special care.
Side effects and contraindications
In general, side effects are very rare. However, because the technique involves injections, small bruises and infections can occur. Allergic reactions to the anaesthetic, which is applied locally, can also occur.
