Gynaecological tests
Gynaecological ultrasound
An exploratory technique using ultrasound that allows us to see the internal female genitalia. Most ultrasounds are done vaginally except in women who have never had sexual intercourse, in which case they are done abdominally.
Mammogram
An X-ray imaging test that can diagnose breast disorders and is particularly sensitive to the diagnosis of breast cancer.
It is highly sensitive in the diagnosis of microcalcifications, which can be an early sign of breast cancer and are undetectable or barely detectable by other imaging techniques (breast ultrasound, magnetic resonance, etc.).
Breast ultrasound
Breast ultrasound is a painless technique that uses ultrasound for the differential study of nodules or tumours that the gynaecologist can feel during a clinical examination or which can be seen during a mammogram. This test is also used as an initial diagnostic method instead of a mammogram in pregnant or young women.
Bone densitometry
A painless test that we can use to determine the mineral density of bones to diagnose osteoporosis and assess the risk of fracture. It is performed by X-ray or ultrasound.
