It is a common problem affecting 40% of women at this stage of life in Spain.
What it involves
This is an infiltrative treatment based on hyaluronic acid that produces a biostimulation of the skin or mucosa. It is performed on an outpatient basis in the consultation room and lasts about 20 minutes.
It works by rehydrating the skin and mucosa, stimulating fibroblast production (collagen synthesis). An increase in the volume of the external genitalia can also be achieved by using a more cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
In which cases is it indicated
- Vulvovaginal atrophy in women who are in the menopausal stage or atrophy associated with other causes.
- Dryness, irritation, burning, discomfort or a feeling of tightness.
- Dyspareunia or episiotomy scars that cause pain with intercourse.
- Vulvar ptosis, deflation and hypotrophy of the external genital area to achieve greater volume.
- In the comprehensive treatment of other vulvar pathologies.
How is it done
The treatment is carried out in the outpatient clinic and takes around 20 minutes.
A local anaesthetic is applied, making the treatment entirely painless.
After the treatment, simply follow a few basic precautions:
- Avoid intercourse for 5 days after having the treatment.
- Do not engage in activities that can put pressure on the treated area for 3 to 5 days after the treatment (cycling, horse riding, etc.).
- Avoid crowded and humid places, such as swimming pools, gyms, spas, hot tubs, etc., for the first 3-5 days.
