A study investigates the best strategy of ovarian stimulation in IVF with PGD
A team of the Reproduction Medicine Service of Dexeus Mujer has conducted a comprehensive review of all the scientific literature published in English to assess which strategies can contribute to improve the success rate in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) when it is indicated to carry out a Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), as in the case of patients with implantation failures, repeated miscarriages or who have an advanced age.
Among the variables studied, the researchers analysed the dose and type of medication given for ovarian stimulation, the time of the cycle at the start of the stimulation treatment, the number of oocytes finally obtained, the waiting time elapsed between the various treatments of ovarian stimulation (in case of accumulation), if embryo transfer was made fresh or deferred, etc.
According to the authors, that for each of these variables provide the data that emerge from the various studies, based on the reviewed literature, there are certain strategies that are associated with a higher success rate and that, therefore, can serve as a guide for professionals working in this field. It is clear, however, that they cannot be applied in a general way nor can be useful in all cases.
